A Social Media Event

What

An online event designed to achieve many of the same goals as an in-person march

Heading 1

We will show lawmakers the support for our movement, draw media attention, and bring awareness to those who may not be following this issue.

Where

Heading 1

Why

This event will be part of a non-stop effort to educate, unseat, boycott, and litigate
until DC citizens are no longer denied proper voting rights.

We must move from a relatively quiet effort to persuade the unpersuadable on Capitol Hill to a creative, bold, and urgent effort to directly persuade voters, seek legal remedies, and unseat those who undermine representative democracy. We must make this currently “acceptable” form of voter suppression something that will no longer be tolerated or ignored.

Online: Facebook, Threads, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok

Where

The place to start with the fastest and widest reach. In-person marches will be easier in the future, if necessary.

How

Express support for DC Statehood online and address comments to Senators (yours or others), media personalities, friends, family and followers. Ask for reposts and shares.

Post your comments of support as well as images and signs, to #marchWITHwashington, @ your 2 senators and media.

Example

I support #DCStatehood because there's no democracy with

pockets of dictatorship. @Sen1, @Sen2, @Maddow

@fox5dc. Pls tag 3, RT, and #marchWITHwashington.

When

The entire month!

Since the inception of our country we have understood taxation without representation is wrong. Yet, in the 21st century, this injustice not only persists but threatens to expand.  Now is the time to make our voices heard. Now is the time to participate in moving our country toward more democractic governance and to shore up those concepts and rules that undergird self-governance for all. Now is the time to move aside those who do not understand or do not desire representative democracy. DC remains the slipperiest of slopes. If we cannot recognize what is and what is not representative democracy, how can we expect to hang on to what it is we do have.  As goes DC, so goes the nation.
